Create your own ringtones with ToneShop.

This handy freeware Windows application lets you take your existing audio tracks and convert them into mobile phone ringtones which can be played on many different phones. ToneShop can accept input and generate output in a range of popular formats – MP3, WMA and WAV; AAC and M4A (Apple iPhone); AMR (Nokia TrueTones) and MMF (Yamaha SMAF).

Simply launch ToneShop and load the file that you want to convert, then use ToneShop's editing tools to select the start and end of the desired section – the interface lets you specify these down to the millisecond. Choose your phone's format and select "convert" to turn the selected section into a ringtone. You can preview your new ringtone before putting it on your phone.

Pros: Free, simple to use.

Cons: Windows only, interface looks unappealing.
